What's In Your Village?
Almost everyone is familiar with the term "it takes a village". What does your village look like?
Our organization B.U.D. believes everyone has a vision, some are rural and others are urban.
Ours is an urban village that is crafted by the members of the community but based on principles of sustainability.
Sustainability means better air quality, cleaner water and healthy nutritious foods. To obtain the essential elements, like food, shelter and clothing, a community needs meaningful work.
Our not for profit is founded on the principle that education is not just in a classroom and that sustainability goes beyond the carbon footprint.
How do we survive as a planet, as a people, as a community? On the most primal level we need clean air, fresh water, shelter and food. We also need resources to provide for basic needs. That means economic development.
Not for profit organizations play a very important role in maintaining society by providing services from local food pantries to global organizations involved in social justice. All require funding.
Over the course of several years we have explored options for funding social good. We continue to provide education in sustainability. We have added education about models that have been put in place to help answer the funding issues we all face.
Really cool urban ideas like this Ikea Village can exist in Bronzeville.
